Sr. Rose Banura Celebrates Her Golden Jubilee As A Religious Of The Society Of The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

To You, O Lord, I Lift Up My Soul: In You, O My God I Trust (Psalm 25:1-2)

In September 1969 I entered the Society as Postulant at Mount Anville, Dublin – Ireland. I made my novitiate under Mother Philbin and I my first vows were on May 21, 1972. I have lived a happy life in all the communities where I have lived and served, in spite of the political upheavals Uganda experienced in the late 1970s and early 1980s. My religious life has been strengthened by the changes of the Society according to the second Vatican council which asked us as a Society of the Sacred Heart to change from living life as half contemplative and half apostolic to fully choosing fully apostolic and fully contemplative in action.

I have always been filled with joy in the mission to share the love of God with the youth. I am happy to have participated in molding the lives of the future citizens of Uganda. This was an expression of the love of Christ as expressed in our Charism. That experience of loving God deeply has kept me loving God and my neighbor through prayer and discernment of the Spirit.

And now Lord I say:

“To you, O Lord, I Lift up my Soul: in you, O my God I Trust”

 (Psalm 25:1-2)
