Welcoming New Life in the Society is an intention that we were all invited to at the General Chapter 2016. Due to many restrictions on movement during these days, we decided to find new ways of organizing ourselves. We organized a virtual workshop for our aspirants, and a two-day retreat, directed by Sr. Nancy Koke.
Those who participated were; Stella Kyohairwe, Christine Amanda Nakayiga, Rosemary Kuhebwa, Consolata Chemutai, and Anne Martha Wafula. We started by sharing our vocation stories which revealed that discerning a call to religious life can be very confusing since one does not get a crystal clear invitation to answer the call. Many voices make themselves heard and one wonders, which voice is from God. To some, it was very hard to share with their families about the desire to become religious. while others had great support from the family.
We also had sessions on the areas of;- our spirituality, accompaniment, Feasts of the Society, stages of formation, community life, silencing exercises, and the value of silence, and the young women were happy to have had this chance to pray, interact with one another, share life experiences and ask questions for clarifications. The virtual online retreat was another new experience that revealed one can still enter into the depth of prayer without being able to meet face to face.
The few days together were fruitful and our young sisters are working towards becoming one body in their little ways as they exchanged contacts and formed a WhatsApp group.
A big thank you to all who made it possible for them to have this time together.
